It was just a few days after Giyuu was bestowed the title of the Water Pillar - he had fought with countless of lesser demons in one night, and sustained some injuries in the process. Certainly he was overwhelmingly strong, but the disadvantage in number still reared its ugly head. Fortunately he managed to pull himself until he arrived at one of the wisteria-crested estates near him, just as he's getting anemic from the blood draining out of the countless cuts on his body.
The person who'd first opened the gate and greeted him was her - - whose face had a smile at first, yet as she looked at him, turned into an expression of horror.
"We-we'll treat you quickly!" She said as she helped him inside the estate. She looked all panicked and full of expression, unlike the people from other wisteria-crested estates. Perhaps it had something to do with her being young - a few years younger than Giyuu, at least - but seeing someone very straightforward with their emotions are somewhat refreshing - Giyuu had never had a knack for showing his emotions, so he felt it even more so.
Unconsciously, Giyuu reached his hand to her hair, gently caressing it.
"Even as I rest and recuperate in bed, she kept coming back and talk to me a lot, didn't she," he thought. At first he'd only thought of him as a bother - yet now that he thought about it, perhaps her neverending stories saved him from the agony of being alone and lost in his dark thoughts of his passed-away comrades and the past.
Even though at some point he stopped coming due to the ceaseless work he had to finish, now he'd made it a point to visit the estate on his free time, as frequently as possible. After all, for some reason his heart just feels unfulfilled, as if there was a gaping hole on it, whenever he stopped coming to the estate.
At first he'd thought it was the estate that he liked, the peaceful surroundings and quiet atmosphere, that made him feel comfortable. However soon he'd realized that it wasn't the estate... it was a certain person in it, that made him feel so.
"," he called her in his mind, "I wish to hear your voice, to see your smile."
"...Tomi...oka-san..."
Giyuu's eyes widened in surprise - was definitely still asleep, yet she'd called his name and smile in her sleep...
Giyuu couldn't stop himself from leaning down and closing the distance between his face and hers.
"," he called her name, slowly, softly, as to not wake her up.
"One day, may this helpless feeling bear fruit."
